Colin Tamplin
Colin Tamplin
Colin is married to Hayley, and they have two grown-up children, Dan and Bethan.
Colin was born in Bolivia, South America, where his parents were long term missionaries. He came to faith as a young child, largely through his parents' consistent example and faithful Bible teaching.
When he was 13 he returned with his parents to the UK, and settled in Birmingham which had been his mother's home city. After finishing secondary school, he was employed by British Leyland where he worked for several years in their computer department.
Colin trained for pastoral ministry at Bryntirion, South Wales (now WEST) from 1986-88 and then took up the ministry at Stroat Evangelical Church, just outside Chepstow in South Gloucestershire. After six years there he returned to Birmingham in 1995 to become the first pastor of the South Birmingham Evangelical Church, now Monyhull Church, which had been founded five years earlier.
In addition to the pastoral ministry, Colin is involved with the FIEC as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, helping to develop the role and ministry of FIEC.
His other interests include reading political thrillers, watching obscure documentaries, supporting Aston Villa, playing the guitar and messing around with the 'charango' (a Bolivian mandolin). His favourite possession in the whole world is his sat-nav, which has more than compensated for his complete lack of any sense of direction!
John Tindall
John Tindall
John is married to Pauline and they have three married children and ten grandchildren.
He joined the Boys Brigade when he was 15 to further his passion for playing football. During this period in the BB he went, when he was 17, to a BB weekend in Capernwray where he came under a sense of his personal sinfulness and trusted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
At the age of 16, he left school to join a bank in central Manchester where he worked for five years. He entered theological training in 1964 at Wesley College, based in Leeds and then Bristol.
John served as a Methodist minister in South Wales (1968-70), Whitley Bay (1970-73) and Penn, Bucks (1973-79). In 1979, he moved back to the North East to help found a new church in Tynemouth.
In 1984 the whole family moved to Chessington in Surrey where John served as pastor in the Chessington Evangelical Church for nearly 22 years before moving on to Birmingham in 2006 to join Colin Tamplin on the Ministry Team at Monyhull.
His main hobbies are reading, photography, TV, supporting Man U and enjoying gadgets. He has played soccer in the Lancashire, Oldham, Welsh, High Wycombe and North East Amateur Football Leagues before reluctantly hanging up his boots at the age of 47.
Paul Mallard
Paul Mallard
Paul is married to Edrie and they have four grown-up children and two grandchildren.
He was born in Selly Oak and grew up in Kings Heath. Paul first came into contact with the Christian faith through a children's holiday club run by Kings Heath Evangelical Church when he was 7 years old. He subsequently joined their youth group and became a Christian on the first night of a Boy Covenanter Camp when he was 11. He sensed God's call to enter full-time ministry from the moment he was converted.
Paul and Edrie both went to Colmore Road Junior School and met at Kings Heath Evangelical Church. They started courting following a beach mission with UBM, just before Paul went to study theology at Cambridge University.
Whilst still keen to pursue full-time ministry, Paul followed the advice of an older Christian to do a real job first! He worked as a teacher in Wiltshire for five years after he graduated. After that, he became the pastor of Ladyfield Evangelical Church in Chippenham, where he served for 13 years.
Paul then spent 15 years as the Senior Pastor of Woodgreen Evangelical Church in Worcester before returning to Birmingham in 2010. He now splits his time between two roles. As part of the Ministry Team at Monyhull, Paul is particularly responsible for training and development.
He is also the 'Director of Training and Development' for the Midlands Gospel Partnership, a network of churches across the Midlands - East and West. In addition to running the MGP's training programme, the 'Midlands Ministry Training Course', Paul's work with the MGP sees him spend a lot of time encouraging other pastors and churches and speaking at various events and conferences.
His other interests include reading, walking and following the ups and downs of the mighty West Bromwich Albion!
